Memorial Day weekend is here and so are our Top 5 Picks. We start things off in Finksburg with the first carnival of the season at the Gamber & Community Fire Co. On Friday, Liberty High School’s Vocal Music presents the Y2K Pop Concert, and if you’re looking for some great food on Saturday, head over to the White Rock Church BBQ. On Monday, head over to Westminster for one of the longest-running Memorial Day Parades in the Country or be a part of the Ceremony at Piney Grove Chapel on Main Street in Mt. Airy. If you’re a veteran, be sure sign up for our Veterans Oral History Day and share your story with us. So enjoy the holiday weekend and please, take a moment to remember the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

1.  Gamber & Community Fire Co. Annual Fireman’s Carnival

Friday, May 24th - Saturday, June 1st at 6:00 pm

FREE – 8 CRAZY NIGHTS OF FUN! 2019 Annual Fireman's Carnival – 1st Fire Company Carnival of the Year in Carroll County!!!!! FRIDAY, MAY 24 WILL BE OUR OFFICIAL OPENING NIGHT. THE CARNIVAL WILL RUN EVERY NIGHT EXCEPT WEDNESDAY AND END ON SATURDAY, JUNE 1. Fireworks are scheduled for Monday night, Memorial Day, May 27. Fireworks should go off after 9 pm, weather permitting.

2. Y2K Pop Concert

Friday,  May 24th at 7:00 pm

$$ – Liberty High School Vocal Music presents chart-topping music from 1990-2010. Friday, May 24, 7 p.m. at Liberty High School, Schnorr Auditorium, 5855 Bartholow Road, Eldersburg. Featuring Perfect Harmony Quartet & The Man Men Quartet, Madrigals, Chorale, Select Women's Ensemble, Concert Choir, Women's Chorus, Duly Noted and Combined Choirs. 3. BBQ - White Rock Church

Saturday,  May 25th at 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

$$ - Come out and enjoy a great meal served by wonderful people. The menu generally features a range of delicious foods; from fried and barbecued meats, hot and cold side dishes, beverages and a variety of desserts.

4. Westminster Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony

Monday,  May 24th at 10:00 am

FREE - One of the longest-running Memorial Day Parades in the country.  American Legion – Carroll Post #31 organizes the parade that starts on Pennsylvania Avenue in downtown Westminster and ends on Church Street at the Westminster Cemetery. The parade steps off at 10:00 am followed by the memorial Service at 11am in the Westminster cemetery. Mount Airy Memorial Day Ceremony

Monday May 24th at 11:00 am

FREE – Members of the American Legion Gold Star Post 191, Auxiliary Unit, and SAL Squadron, will hold its annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 27, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Piney Grove Chapel on Main Street in Mount Airy. The service is to honor the local residents killed in the 9/11 attacks as well as all of those who served and perished in defense of our country.

Saturday, June 8th  10:00 am - 4:00 pm

FREE -The Community Media Center is honoring local veterans by recording their stories of service to our Country. We’re videotaping interviews with local veterans to preserve their personal accounts of service to our Country for future generations. You can help create this historical record by sharing your story.
