POSITION:  DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

 

OVERVIEW:  The Community Media Center of Carroll County, Inc. (CMC) is looking for a motivated, project driven individual to be our Development Coordinator. We seek an individual with a strategic mind, a passion for results and the experience to successfully lead planning and execution of a strong development and fundraising plans.  The Development Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing underwriting, sponsorships, donor development, earned revenue business development and grant writing.  This position reports directly to the Executive Director and acts as a liaison to the Board of Directors.

 

This is a full-time, 40 hour per week, salaried position. Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule, including the possibility of evenings and weekends as needed. This position includes benefits.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Secure sponsorships for programming
  • Directly perform outreach to prospects, to learn of their marketing objectives in order to tailor sponsorship opportunities to meet their needs; package and then pitch sponsorship opportunities
  • Business development, research opportunities to increase earned income through existing and new resources
  • Identify range of sponsorship/benefits to offer larger contributors
  • Write all campaign correspondence including solicitation proposals, follow up correspondence
  • Manage fund raising events in cooperation with Board
  • Networking and outreach throughout the public and private community
  • Working with Marketing Director, identify prospects for events and sponsorship, coordination of promotion through social media accounts and web site
  • Research and identify availability of grant funding
  • Compile or develop materials to submit to granting or other funding organizations.
  • Grant collaboration with partners on co-proposals
  • Cultivation of volunteers and members into development efforts
  • Serves as liaison to Board
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

ALLOCATION OF JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • 45% Underwriting and sponsorships
  • 30% Business development, opportunities to increase earned income
  • 15% Donor development
  • 10% Grant collaboration with partners

SKILLS:

  • Customer service oriented
  • Excellent communication skills both written & oral
  • Ability to work independently; self-starter
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills
  • Understanding of social media expression & judgment
  • Time-management skills; Detail oriented
  • Computer skills to include and not limited to Word, Excel, basic accounting, file management and member/donor database

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • B. S. preferred
  • 2 years in fundraising, sales, business development or similar role
  • Community involvement including extensive contact with Carroll County businesses
  • Not-for-profit experience as staff, volunteer or board member
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to respond to shifting priorities

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to climb (stairs/ladders) or balance
  • Ability to stand and/or walk at 2-3 hour intervals 
  • Ability to transport oneself
  • Clear driving record and valid driver's license
