Cavs waste no time in pinning down Carroll County crown

South Carroll won its third wrestling Carroll County Athletic League title in as many seasons by defeating Winters Mill on Feb. 2, 2022.

Nine pins helped South Carroll make quick work of Winters Mill in their Carroll County Athletic League wrestling dual meet on Feb. 2, and in doing so the Cavaliers added another team accomplishment to their resume.

The Cavs prevailed 58-18 and secured the CCAL regular-season title, their third in a row.

The match began with pins from Michael Pizzuto (132 pounds) and Anthony Bond (138), and one match later South Carroll strung together six consecutive pins -- Manny Rodrigues, AJ Rodrigues, Brandon Athey, Janero Marchany, Rylan Moose, and Jarnell Davis from 152 to 220.

The Cavaliers improved to 19-0 and 5-0 against county teams. South Carroll takes on Westminster on Feb. 3, and would still be county champs despite a loss based on a head-to-head victory over Manchester Valley (4-1, wrestling Liberty on Feb. 3).

Winters Mill (14-5, 4-2) got pins from Caleb Crouch at 145 and Dalton Dwyer at 120, and the Falcons received a forfeit win at 285.
