The CMC offers a variety of workshops to get members of the community on their way to working on their own shows and exploring the latest electronic communications applications.

Workshops are taught by staff and other professionals in the television and technology industries. Email info@carrollmediacenter.org for more information or call 410-386-4415.

CMC Members Workshop: Final Cut Pro X Basics

Thursday, February 22nd from 7 PM – 9 PM

This workshop is a beginner-level learning workshop. CMC Members will be focusing on creating a file structure for projects, starting a FCP X editing project, and will learn the basics of the FCP X software. This workshop is intended for anyone completely new to the software and our computers in the classroom. This is a free workshop for CMC Members but registration is required. Class size is limited to 9 participants. Reservations will be made on a first come first served basis.

CMC Media Makers Studio Production

Thursday, March 1st from 7pm – 9pm

CMC Media Makers will record Episode 2 of “Carroll Helping Carroll” a studio talk show designed to provide you with insights into those individuals and organizations who are making a difference in Carroll County. CMC Members are encouraged to participate.

CMC Media Makers Workshop: Final Cut Pro X Editing "Carroll Helping Carroll"

Thursday, March 8th from 7pm – 9pm

This workshop is intended as a hands-on event. CMC Media Makers will be given the chance to edit together segments of “Carroll Helping Carroll” Episode 2, recorded on March 1st, 2018. This workshop is only for members who have attended a Final Cut Pro X workshop in the past. This is a chance for the members attending the Feb Final Cut Pro X beginner class to put their new knowledge into practice. This is not an instructional workshop. Media Makers will be completing a project by the end of the workshop. CMC staff will be supervising this workshop to answer technical questions on-site.

CMC Members Workshop: Lighting Basics

Thursday, March 29th from 7pm – 9pm

This workshop will focus on setting up lighting for a video interview. Instruction will include demonstrations in our studio and reviewing real-world examples like (60 minute interviews). CMC Members will take away cursory knowledge on how to best utilize three-point lighting as well as get an idea of what kind of lights/lighting accessories the CMC has to offer for their projects. This workshop is intended as a beginner instruction and introduction into video production lighting.This lighting basics workshop is great for the newcomer as well as the video production veteran, looking to brush up on their skills.

CMC Members Workshop: Final Cut Pro X - Advanced Workshop

Thursday, April 26th from 7pm – 9pm

This CMC Member workshop is focusing on advanced Final Cut Pro X training. Participants will learn effects such as, keying for green screen and color correction. Skills acquired in this workshop will take your editing capabilities to the next level.

Prerequisite: For CMC members with previous Final Cut Pro X training/use only.
