Judge's comments for this category:
Brenon: Production Value (Graphics, Video/Directing, Audio, Editing): Good background audio with appropriate balance. Aesthetic Value (Creativity, Program Pacing, Content): Weird storyline, a bit too abbreviated to really tell a story. Set & costuming well done. Fake blood was cheesy.
Handel's Solomon: Production Value (Graphics, Video/Directing, Audio, Editing): Tough to make a long static piece be visually appealing as well. Would have liked to see graphics before each section introducing each soloist, title, etc.
Impact: Banjos, Guns & Guitars: Production Value (Graphics, Video/Directing, Audio, Editing): Audio did not synch with video – I found this distracting. Aesthetic Value (Creativity, Program Pacing, Content): Dick is a good host. Setting could have used some spiffing up. Gun Club section seemed out of place.
Mafia Memories: Interview with Henry Hill: Production Value (Graphics, Video/Directing, Audio, Editing): Background noise very evident in some sections. Uneven sound levels between interviewers and guests. The guest's coughing was disgusting and needed to be edited out. Aesthetic Value (Creativity, Program Pacing, Content): Interesting – albeit disturbing. Great to see a “national” figure on local cable. I would have like to see the interviewer occasionally.
Rust: Production Value (Graphics, Video/Directing, Audio, Editing): Opening graphics looked very professional Aesthetic Value (Creativity, Program Pacing, Content): Story was moving and told concisely and artistically. Heartwarming production and outstanding quality. They really got great performances out of amateur actors.
Stallions & Mules: Production Value (Graphics, Video/Directing, Audio, Editing): Opening graphics & music were outstanding. Excellent music choices and other sound effects (background sirens, etc) Aesthetic Value (Creativity, Program Pacing, Content): Car sequences very well done. Storyline tough to follow. I did't find anything to care about in these characters. Actors needed to be about 10 years older to truly pull off this script. Some terrific artistic flourishes here and there – well chosen locations.
