Upcoming Events at the CMC

July 2010
Tony Hooper is Going, Going, but Not Gone
Tony Hooper After working for the Community Media Center for six years, Tony Hooper is stepping down from his position as Operations Manager to pursue a teaching career. His last day is Friday, July 23rd.

Tony is pursuing a teaching career and has accepted the position of Video Production Instructor at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center (CCCTC) in Westminster, just across the CMC parking lot. He will be teaching his first video production class in September 2010.

Tony's experience with the CMC has provided him with a well-rounded instructional background having served as a production technician, studio coordinator and manager.

Fortunately for the CMC, Tony will be bringing his classes to the facility on a regular basis as part of their curriculum. The CMC and the CCCTC have successfully partnered to allow students the use of the CMC's studio and editing equipment. Students from the Career and Technology Center, and other local schools/colleges, may also pursue internships at the CMC, which Tony will help to arrange.

CMC Membership Renewals Due
CMC members should look for a billing statement in the next few weeks for the 2010-2011 membership cycle. Membership with the CMC runs from July through June.

Carroll Community Services Council Using the CMC's OurCarroll.com Web Portal to Encourage Participation
The Partnership for a Healthier Carroll County is the winner of the Carroll Community Services Council's June 2010 participation prize for their use of OurCarroll.com to promote their organization. The Partnership received a copy of the Westminster Cityscape Art Poster which was recently released in the community.

Nonprofits that frequently use OurCarroll.com and actively participate in the Carroll Community Services Council (CCSC) qualify for the second and final prize which will be awarded in August 2010. Prize details will be announced in the coming weeks.

The CCSC is a consortium of nonprofit organizations within Carroll County. The group was formed to identify and advocate to meet gaps in community service needs; to coordinate a clearinghouse of information for community services; to strengthen community service provider ties with the community, government, and the media, and to educate members and other agencies, as well as the community, regarding community services.

The CCSC provides an excellent networking opportunity for anyone residing or working in Carroll County who is interested in the county's future. In lieu of a regular emailed newsletter, the group has begun using OurCarroll.com, the CMC's social media web portal. Participation prizes are being awarded to encourage use of the site as an information exchange point within the group and community.

CSC meetings are generally at 8:30 am on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Carroll Nonprofit Center, 255 Clifton Boulevard, Westminster. A Board of Directors, elected annually, provides direction for the membership meetings. For more information, please email Debbie Zepp, Board President, at debbiez@carrollhospitalcenter.org.
