In preparation for Mt. Airy’s May 1 Municipal Elections, there will be a Live Candidate Forum on Friday, April 7. The live forum will be held at the Mt. Airy Senior Center, beginning at 6:30pm.

This year’s municipal elections involve two races: three candidates are vying the position of Mayor and four candidates are running for two available Town Council seats. The Mayoral candidates include: incumbent Pat Rockinberg and newcomers Ben Greenstein and Joe Muise. Council candidates include: incumbent Scott Strong and three newcomers: Leslie Dickinson, Larry Hushour and Karl Munder.

Both forums will occur back to back on Friday, April 7. The Mayoral Forum will get underway at the Mt. Airy Senior Center at 6:30pm sharp and run for approximately 75 minutes. Following a 15 minutes break, the Town Council Candidate Forum will begin at approximately 8:00pm. Moderators for both forums are impartial, well-spoken individuals who reside outside of the Town and therefore not able to vote in local Town elections.

Mt. Airy residents are encouraged to take full advantage of the forums by either submitting questions in advance or attending the live event on the 7th. Questions can be emailed (limit of one question per resident) between now and the forum to: billbutts@hotmail.com, or residents can attend and pose their question at the live event.

The forums will be streamed live online at www.carrollmediacenter.org starting at 6:30pm on the 7th.  It will also premiere on Cable Channel 19 a few days thereafter.  Additional airdates and times will be announced at the Live Forum. In addition, for the benefit of voters, video profiles of the candidates can be viewed at the “Municipal Elections Page” on the CMC’s website (www.carrollmediacenter.org).
