“Singing on Stage” is Sunday, April 30, at 7 p.m., in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College
WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel College students perform in the Musical Theatre/Opera Workshop on Sunday, April 30, 7 p.m. Titled “Singing on Stage,” it takes place in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md., and is free and open to the public.
Music and theatre arts students at McDaniel perform William Martin’s comic oratorio, “The True Story of Cinderella,” under the direction of Kyle Engler, senior lecturer in music.
Composer Warren Martin, a professor of music at Westminster Choir College from 1950 until 1981, created “The True Story of Cinderella” in 1955 at the request of students to provide a May Day entertainment. The score was published by the college posthumously, as Martin refused all requests to publish or lend the music during his lifetime.
