Drug and Violence Awareness Expo 2017

On Thursday, April 27th the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce held the 3rd Annual Drug and Violence Awareness Expo at the Carroll County Agriculture Center’s Shipley Arena.

Over 2,500 students attended the Expo and heard powerful presentations about the devastating effects of prescription drug abuse, underage drinking, drug addiction and Teen Dating violence.

The Community Media Center and the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office announced the winners of the Youth Voices PSA Contest.

Middle School Winners:

First place: William Tobias– East Middle School

Second place: Mallory Scheuler – Sykesville Middle School

Third place: Kyle McMahon – Sykesville Middle School.

High School Winners:

First place: Delaney Debinski – Century High School

Second place: Logan Schooley – Winters Mill High School

Third place – Adam Bowen – Westminster High School.

The Expo featured Impaired Driving simulations, Self Defense, CPR, and K-9 Demonstrations throughout the day. Exhibitors from various support groups provided important information about prevention, services and treatment.

The Drug & Violence awareness expo is a one day experience that can have a lasting impact on our youth and our community.
