Our expanded Top 5 list has everything you need to get ready for the holidays!  Start off with a little shopping at Sykesville’s 12 Hours of Christmas or Carroll Arts Center’s Gallery of Gifts!  Enjoy the sounds of the holiday with the Westminster Symphony Orchestra, The Westminster Ringers or a Gospel Choir Concert. Take the kiddies to have Breakfast with Santa at the Westminster American Legion, swing by the Farm Museum for a Winter Wonderland Workshop and don’t miss the Annual Train Garden in Mt. Airy.  Don’t forget to top off your weekend with a performance of A Christmas Carroll. There are so many ways to celebrate the holidays – right here in Carroll County!

1. Winter Wonderland Workshop

Saturday Dec. 8th at 10:00 a.m.
Sunday Dec. 9th at 12:00 p.m.

FREE – Children’s activities and crafts. Located in the Burns Room (red barn with barn quilt-lower level).

2. A Christmas Carol

Friday Dec 7th at 8:00 pm
Saturday, Dec. 8th at 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm

$$ – A live production of “A Christmas Carol” has become a tradition at the Carroll Arts Center during the holiday season.  This year the Center welcomes back the acclaimed Maryland Ensemble Theatre for their joyful version of Charles Dickens’ classic tale in a heartwarming adaptation that is designed to appeal to all ages.

3. Breakfast with Santa Westminster American Legion

Sunday, Dec. 9th at 9:00 am.

$ – Everyone invited to all you can eat breakfast even if you have not children. Fun and gifts for each child attending.

4. Sykesville First Friday - Twelve Hours of Christmas

Friday, Dec. 7th at 10:00 am

Get in the Holiday spirit with our special sales. Hot cocoa, raffles, Holiday music and plenty of Holiday spirit. You aren’t going to want to miss this one!

5. Annual Train Garden

Saturday and Sunday
Dec 8th and 9th at 12:00 pm

FREE – The Annual Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company Train Garden will be open to the public every weekend in December from noon until 5:00 PM. Parking and entry is in the lower level of the fire station located at 702 North Main Street, Mt. Airy. Hope you will stop by and enjoy our display.

6. McDaniel College Gospel Choir Concert

Sunday, Dec 9th at 3:00 PM

Free -Under the direction of music lecturer Shelley Ensor, McDaniel College’s Gospel Choir performs traditionnal and contemporary gospel music, as well as spirituals.

7. For the Young at Heart: A Westminster Ringers Concert

Sunday, Dec 8th 4:00 pm

FREE -Our winter concert is coming up quick! Come celebrate the season with some of your favorite tune as you’ve never heard them before. ‘Tis the season for the young and the young at heart!  For ticket information please contact WRManagingDirector@gmail.com

8. Westminster Symphony Orchestra

Saturday, Dec. 8th at 3:00 PM

Free -Linda Kirkpatrick, senior lecturer in music, directs the orchestra, which is comprised of McDaniel students, as well as students from Carroll Community College and community musicians.

9. Gallery of Gifts

Friday and Saturday Dec 7 and 8th
10:00 am - 4:00 pm

$$ – Find that perfect holiday gift! There will be a wide variety of hand-crafted creations from inexpensive stocking stuffers, holiday décor and traditional arts and crafts to truly elegant one-of-a-kind gifts
