The Ascension Country Breakfast is held on the first Saturday of every month. Come hungry, leave full. Called the best in Carroll County by many of our customers, a full all-you-can-eat breakfast menu including pancakes, Hahn sausage, scrambled eggs, hashed brown potatoes, egg and ham casserole, sausage gravy and biscuits, creamed chipped beef, assorted fruit, assorted pastries, fresh brewed coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate, milk, and juices all at an affordable price. Plenty of parking in the lot behind the church off Ralph St.

The breakfast crew is always looking for more volunteers. If you would like to be involved with this monthly event that benefits the church financially, please contact the church office.

Guests at this year’s Winter Wine Warmer will gather around the fireplaces at Emerald Hill, sip a variety of ciders and wines, and experience HSCC’s exhibit, The Shellman House: Evergreen, Ever Changing, while listening to pianist Herb Sell serenade the room.

If you’re not ready to end the evening, take advantage of the special discounts offered by participating Westminster restaurants such as Paradiso, Johansson’s, Rafael’s and Lone Star BBQ. Lead sponsor for this year’s event is Bowman’s Feed and Pet Store.

This year’s exhibit is being underwritten through the generosity of Terry’s Tags & Title.  Wines are provided by House of Liquors and an assortment of ciders by Great Sholes Ciders. Reservations are required by December 29th, 2017.

Kick off 2018 by getting fit right here at your library! This four-week exercise class will start at 8 AM, BEFORE library hours. Get in shape with certified personal trainer and fitness instructor, Reba Floto. Start the new year eating clean and moving daily, with this plan to jumpstart your fitness goals and shed that holiday bulge for spring. This plan is designed to build lean muscle and jumpstart metabolism. Each week is designed to grow progressively from the previous week to help maximize results and avoid a plateau. The only equipment you will need is an exercise mat.(*Please check the library website or phone each week after 7 AM, as the class will be canceled if the library opening is delayed or the library is closed due to inclement weather.) January 8 – February 24, 2018.  The Carroll Arts Center celebrates McDaniel College’s 150th anniversary with an exhibition highlighting the fine arts program at McDaniel. Paintings, sculpture, metalsmithing, illustration, ceramic art and photography are on display by current and former McDaniel faculty members, including Steven Pearson, Linda Van Hart, Ken Hankins, Walter P. Calahan, Susan Ruddick Bloom and Wasyl Palijczuk, and alumni Ellen Elmes, Jessica Boehman, Aaron Heisler, Dan Glusman, Bobby Coleman and Colin Donnelly, as well as Chloe Watson Irla, a 2007 alumna who is an assistant professor at the college. *Reception: Thursday, Feb. 1, 5:30–7:30pm.

The Lawyer in the Library project provides FREE civil legal services right here in the community! No appointments necessary. Attendees will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring all relevant documents with you. Maryland Legal Aid attorneys and paralegals, law students, and volunteer attorneys will provide brief, one-on-one advice on a variety of civil legal issues including bankruptcy, child custody & support, debt collection, expungements, government benefits, housing, veterans’ benefits, and wage claims. Maryland Legal Aid will be in the branch for two hours on each date (12/13, 1/17, and 2/21). Registration for this event begins 1/5/2018.
