Each Spring the City of Westminster hosts the Annual Egg Hunt in Westminster City Park.  Egg Hunt age categories include:  Ages 1-4 egg hunt will be at 10:30am and Ages 5-8 egg hunt will be at 11:30am. This FREE event is always an egg-citing time! Don’t forget to bring your basket to collect all the eggs. Each age group will have one golden ticket egg hidden among the eggs.

On July 2, 1836, Robert E. Lee wanted to attack both flanks of the Army of the Potomac.  He hoped to roll up the Yankees and have another victory like Chancellorsville.  Discuss what happened in the attacks of the Confederate army.  Debate if these attacks were the best way to secure a Confederate victory.  Find out the details of the events on the flanks of the Union army and decide for yourself if Robert E. Lee made the right moves.

This discussion features civil rights attorney C. Victor McTeer, a 1969 McDaniel alumnus and member of the college’s board of trustees, and James Bell, an attorney and juvenile justice advocate who is the founder and executive director of the W. Haywood Burns Institute in Oakland, Calif. Both McTeer and Bell earned honorary degrees from McDaniel and served as commencement speakers, McTeer in 2015 and Bell in 2016.

McPherson’s Ridge, west of Gettysburg, PA, was quiet farmland until Union and Confederate armies arrived.  This ridge and the adjoining farms witnessed some of the worst fighting of the Battle of Gettysburg.  Explore the history the farms and the fighting on July 1, 1863 along this important ridge. The cost includes a tour at Gettysburg on April 29, 2017 from 9am to 12pm.  Students provide own transportation.

Kipyn Martin is an emerging indie folk singer/songwriter whose roots sink into the banks of the Shenandoah River. She currently plays festivals, concert halls, and coffeehouses throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
David Glaser is a celebrated singer songwriter and instrumentalist based here in Maryland. David’s musical life includes recording and performing as a solo artist, playing guitar and mandolin with other artists and bands, teaching and mentoring musicians of all ages and skill levels on their own musical journeys.

Join us for an evening of Fun-raising.  Experience an artist led painting project.  Sip your favorite beverage (wine or not).  Enjoy the laughter & fellowship as we design homes for our feathered friends.  The artists will instruct us on how to paint flowers, vines and other designs to enhance our birdhouses.  The cost includes your wooden birdhouse, paints and other supplies.  Bring your wine and a small snack to share with a dozen “friends!”

April 28 * 29, 2017.  Saturday, Truck Show from 9am – 3pm, Diesel doctor portable dyno will be available throughout the day. Dirt Drags with a new tree and light system for pickups, semis and dump starting at 2pm and finishing out the evening beginning at 5pm with truck pull featuring street semi, hot semi, dump, street pickup, and modified pickup.

All entry fees from the semi dirt drags will be donated to Bud Gross’ son Colby’s education fund.

Civil War School of the Soldier @ Carroll County Farm Museum

Come learn what it was like to be a soldier in the Civil War. Open to boys and girls ages 10 to 14. Participants will be mustered in drill and then reenact a skirmish* for their families and other Museum guests among other fabulous activities.  Pre-registration is required by April 14.  $25 fee includes lunch and a commemorative t-shirt.

*please note no real weapons will be used

This annual concert features The Madrigal Singers, McDaniel’s premier a cappella vocal ensemble, under the direction of Margaret Boudreaux, director of choral activities at McDaniel. The Madrigal Singers perform unaccompanied vocal music, primarily Renaissance pieces, but also world music and vocal jazz. Audience participation is encouraged.
